Rev’d, Ivan Howitt - Vicar

I am pleased to welcome you to this web site that gives information about the magnificent Church of St Augustine, Hedon in East Yorkshire, England. The Church has the nick name of 'The King of Holderness', and can be seen for many miles around standing proudly over the surrounding town and countryside.

I am the Reverend Ivan Howitt and am the Vicar of Hedon. I have held this post for two years. My roles as Vicar are various. My prime concern is with the spiritual life of the Church, which included taking services and conducting Funerals and Weddings as well as Baptising babies. I also have the responsibility for the building of St Augustine, which at the moment is suffering from 800 year old wear and tear! Costs have spiralled to £10 million, a sum most find very daunting.

The Church Building is a jewel, its lofty pinnacles cutting a delightful silhouette in the sky and its eight fine bells are often heard around the town.

Do enjoy finding out about the Church and the town it serves, and may you be filled with the Christian hope with which it inspires us!

Rev'd Ivan Howitt - Vicar
